Remembered in his will,[4] were, among others, Mary, Anne, and Judith - daughters of his nephew Edward.[1]

Enquiry Notes

True, wife of "Richard Walton, citizen and merchant tailor of London," was the daughter of "Elizabeth Friend als. Lockey, the natural sister of Edward Lockey, late of York River, in Virginia in parts beyond the seas, merchant, who lately deceased here in London" [1667 tape of Richard appointing attorneys in Virginia][one]

In 1671, "every bit Isaac Collier, Jun., was dead and William Carter was absent and supposed to be dead, the General Court ordered that Judith Lockey, who had married Henry Cary, should take the legacies left Collier and Carter, 'land excepted which is adjudged to the brother of said Isaac Collier.'"[i]

blood brother of said Isaac was Thomas, who in 1693 "equally blood brother of Isaac Collyer, december'd, sold Morgan's plantation, on York river, to Dudley Digges, of Warwick county, gent."[1]

Previously (in 1668), York Court records showed that Mary had married: "Mr. John Mihill as intermarrying with Mary Lockey is ordered to pay... 'for physicke administered and omnipresence on her in her season-in past ye appointmt and order of her dec'd uncle, Edward Lockey, with courtroom charges.'"

Potential Relatives/In-laws

many Elizabeths in ane, currently attached every bit married woman of Lockey-10, whose contour more resembled the uncle than the nephew:
  • Hanford-26 "Elizabeth Read (Hanford) Lockey", sis of John Hansford, born 1626 and mother of Mary, Anne, & Judith Lockey (daughters of nephew Edward)
John Read - perhaps Reade-637, b 1590, died 1636 in York County, Virginia
John Hansford - possibly Hansford-28, but no profile attached for a son Thomas. John'due south married woman is shown as Elizabeth Jones (b 1618), whose profile is attached to another Edward Lockey (Lockey-19).
  • Thomas Hansford-73, b 1646 (with wife, Elizabeth Jones, b 1657, m 1665)
Candidates for blood brother John (1 may be his father instead):
  • Lockey-93, b c1595/d 1665, grand Elizabeth (Unknown), b c1600, who remarried Stanford (but has sister Elizabeth m Friend as daughter).
  • Lockey-95, b c1572, k Elizabeth Palister
Removed Parents: John Lockey-93 and wife Elizabeth (Unknown) Stanford.
Other Edwards:
  • Nephew Edward, with daughters Mary, Anne, & Judith
  • Lockey-19, husband of Elizabeth (Jones) Hansford
  • Lockey-116 (looks like correct wives attached & has blood brother John d 1665, but that John (Lockey-93) has sister Elizabeth thou Friend as daughter.
    • simply proposed a merge of Lockey-116 & Lockey-nineteen.

Edward was built-in most 1600. He is the son of John Lockey and Elisabeth Palister.

  2. ↑ Original did not accept one-time/new style. I added "/8" based on unsourced death given in a duplicate profile as June 1667. If nosotros could find him on a rider listing to determine when he arrived for his "1667 trip to London", we would know whether the will was recorded in 1667/viii or 1666/seven.
  3. Lockey-nineteen
  4. ↑ That he left a will is assumed. The "Colliers of York Canton" article does non specifically cite a will. Also, meet previous footnote about the year.
